Research Documentation Guides

Start with the record

These guides help laboratory buyers organize material information and understand the scope of available analytical documentation. Use them alongside the actual label and source report for the material you are evaluating.

A product page, a certificate of analysis, and a purchasing record serve different purposes. The guides below explain how to connect those records, identify missing information, and ask useful documentation questions without assuming a result that has not been established.

Choose a guide

Match a research material to its COA. Check the material, nominal size, lot, and source report together.

Understand analytical record scope. Distinguish identity, purity, nominal amount, measured content, and analyses that are not documented.

Track lot, sample, and report identifiers. Keep the connection between supplier and laboratory records clear.

Build a laboratory procurement record. Use a practical checklist for reviewing documents and documenting unanswered questions.

Ask CBS about a record

Use the Testing Library to locate available records. If a material, size, lot, or report cannot be matched, contact support with the relevant identifiers. A missing or pending record should remain a separate status until an applicable document is available.
